PSU Women’s Ice Hockey skates past Mount Holyoke

WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - Freshman Amanda Kreamer (Lynn, Mass.) and senior Angela Potvin (Augusta, Maine) scored two goals apiece Saturday afternoon, leading the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team to a 7-1 victory over Mount Holyoke College at Waterville Valley Ice Arena.

The Panthers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Freshman Ursula Volosevich (South Boston, Mass.) put PSU on the board 14 seconds after the opening draw, and Kreamer and Potvin each tallied their first of the game in the opening 20 minutes.

Kreamer's second goal gave the Panthers a 4-0 lead seven minutes into the middle period, but Karen Frost put Mount Holyoke on the board at the 8:17 mark. PSU answered with Potvin's second goal, a power play marker just 39 seconds later, to give the Panthers a 5-1 lead through two periods.

Sophomore Molly Perron (Hartland, Vt.) and freshman Julie Robida (West Hartford, Conn.) rounded out the scoring for PSU with third-period goals. Sophomores Holly Winchell (Atkinson, N.H.), Missy Fales (West Kingston, R.I.) and Kelley Kirakiakos (Nashua, N.H.) each collected two assists for the Panthers on the afternoon.

PSU finished with a 41-16 advantage in shots on goal. PSU freshman goalie Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) made 15 saves to earn the win, while MHC goalie Andi VillaSenor stopped 34 shots.

The Panthers, 8-5, have a rematch next Saturday (Feb. 11) at Mount Holyoke (1:00 p.m.)
