PSU Women’s Ice Hockey falls at Southern Maine

GORHAM, Maine - Junior Amy McNally (East Waterboro, Maine) recorded a goal and an assist and freshman Jessica Knight (Alfred, Maine) collected a pair of assists Saturday night as the University of Southern Maine skated past Plymouth State University, 3-0, in non-conference women's ice hockey action at the USM Ice Arena.

McNally scored the only goal USM would need 3:41 into the contest, her fourth of the season and set up by Knight. Freshman Jessica Sullivan (Pembroke, Mass.) and junior Katie Quartuccio (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) added goals less than two minutes apart midway through the second period to make it a 3-0 game, which ended up as the final score.

The Huskies outshot the Panthers 41-5 for the game. Senior Jen Arno (Westford, Mass.) stopped all five shots to earn her second shutout of the season. PSU sophomore Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) finished with 38 saves.

The two teams will play the second part of the home-and-home series Sunday afternoon at Waterville Valley Ice Arena (2:30 p.m.) PSU, 1-10 overall and 0-8 in varsity games, is in its first season as a varsity squad, while USM, 4-9-0 overall, has sported a team since 1997-98.
