PSU Women’s Ice Hockey defeated by New England College

         WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - New England College got goals from six different players and junior Emily Tanguay (Manchester, N.H.) helped out with three assists Saturday evening as the Pilgrims skated past Plymouth State University, 6-1, in an ECAC Women's East Conference game at Waterville Valley Ice Arena.

         The Pilgrims took a 3-0 lead in the first period, and put the game away with three more in the third frame.  PSU broke the shutout in the closing seconds on the game on a goal by freshman Elizabeth Murray (Woburn, Mass.), assisted by sophomore Amanda Arponen (Plymouth, Mass.)

         Junior Sarah Tracey (Aurora, Ont.) scored in the opening minute of the game to give the Pilgrims an early lead.  Freshman Emily Kuchta (Norwalk, Conn.) and junior Sarah Graham (Brampton, Ont.) added goals later in the period to make it 3-0 after one frame.

         After a scoreless second period, sophomore Danielle Taylor (Bridgewater, Mass.) tallied a goal in the first minute of the third stanza.  Seniors Shauna Pires (Cotuit, Mass.) and Elizabeth Ross (West Hartford, Conn.) also scored third-period goals for the Pilgrims before Murray broke up the shutout for PSU.

         Sophomore Jamie Johnson (Bridgewater, N.H.) made 12 saves in the Pilgrim goal, while junior Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) finished with 45 saves for the Panthers.

         PSU is on the road next weekend for a pair of conference games at Manhattanville College, Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3:00 p.m.  NEC plays its final game of the first semester Friday at MIT (7 p.m.)
