Wesleyan defeats PSU Women’s Ice Hockey

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Freshmen Sena Ito (New York, N.Y.) and Emma Ram (Conway, Mass.) scored two goals each Tuesday evening to lead Wesleyan University to a 6-2 victory over Plymouth State University in a non-conference women's ice hockey game.

In the first meeting between the teams, Wesleyan pulled away from a 2-2 tie on Ito's first goal, this one on the power play at 8:33 of the second period, igniting a 4-0 run to end the period.  The score stayed 6-2 despite an 18-3 edge in shots for Wesleyan during the final period as PSU goalie junior Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass.) held the fort despite absorbing her 11th loss of the year. She finished the game with 49 saves, nearly her average this season (52).

In only its second year of varsity play, Plymouth State stayed winless, while Wesleyan moved to 3-8-0 overall.

Three Wesleyan players enjoyed three-point games led by Ito and Run with two goals and an assist; Junior Hannah Jackson had a goal and two assists.

PSU got a goal and an assist from its top scorer, freshman Elizabeth Murray (Woburn, Mass.), who now has six goals and two assists. Junior Amanda Kreamer (Lynn, Mass.) also scored for the Panthers.

Wesleyan returns to NESCAC action this weekend with games Friday at Bowdoin (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday at Colby (3:00 p.m.).  PSU returns home to host MIT in an ECAC East Conference game Friday at Waterville Valley (6:00 p.m.)
