PSU Womens Ice Hockey player earns ECAC honor
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - One of the seniors on
the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team was honored
by the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tuesday with selection
to the ECAC Women's East Weekly Honor Roll.
Senior captain Amanda Kreamer (Lynn, Mass./Lynn English) made her first appearance on the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll after leading Plymouth State to the first victory in the program's history, a dramatic 5-4 overtime decision last Saturday over Nichols College.
A 5'5" defenseman, Kreamer (right) scored the game-winning
goal in overtime to give PSU the thrilling victory over Nichols.
She helped the Panthers withstand a furious third-period Bison
rally, when Nichols out-shot Plymouth State 25-2. It was Kreamer's
second goal of the season, and the seventh of her 54-game career.
The victory avoided a near-heartbreaking result for the Panthers. PSU had a 4-1 lead in the second period and a 4-3 advantage in the closing seconds of the third period before a Bison goal with less than two seconds on the clock in regulation play forced overtime.
Also key to the "Senior Day" victory for PSU was senior goaltender and assistant captain Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston, Mass./Newton Country Day), who made 47 saves, including 25 in the third period.
PSU wraps up the season this weekend with a pair of conference road games, visiting Holy Cross on Friday and Salve Regina on Saturday.
