The Hawks recorded their sixth straight victory and third consecutive shutout, improving to 12-4 overall and 7-4 in conference play. PSU managed only three shots on goal and dropped to 1-11-3 and 1-7-2.
Saint Anselm out-shot the home team 18-1 in the first period but scored only one goal. Sophomore Jacqueline Bouchie took a shot from the right point that snuck through traffic, the goal coming just one second after the completion of a power play attempt with two minutes left in the period.
Winters tallied the only two goals of the second period, both in similar fashion. A Saint Anselm shot from the point was blocked by the traffic in front of the net, and Winters collected the rebound, pulled the puck to her backhand to the right of the net, and lifted a backhanded shot over the goalie. The first goal came six minutes into the second and the next one came with six minutes remaining.
The Hawks added a pair of third-period goals, Winters circling from behind the net to score an unassisted marker at 9:53 and sophomore Andi Foss putting home a rebound at 12:55. Winters has a team-leading 13 goals this season.
PSU sophomore Ali Ponte had a busy day in the Panther goal, and finished with 38 saves. Saint Anselm sophomore Lindsey Brown needed to make just three saves to post her second shutout.
Saint Anselm is back on the ice Tuesday with a non-conference encounter at Middlebury College. PSU plays again Friday in an ECAC East game at Holy Cross.
