PSU Women’s Ice Hockey falls to Norwich

Panthers downed by ECAC East leaders

            NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Junior Tori Charron scored two goals Saturday afternoon as Norwich University skated past Plymouth State University, 6-0, in Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's East ice hockey action at Kreitzler Arena.

            The league-leading Cadets extended their winning streak to 10 games, improving to 16-2-3 overall and 15-1-0 in the ECAC East.  PSU dropped to 4-15-2 and 3-9-2.

            Norwich led 3-0 after one period on goals by sophomore Liz Gemmiti, freshman Nicolette Gosselin and Charron.  Charron added her second of the game and her league-leading 23rd of the season in the second period, and junior Renee Lortie made it 5-0 at the end of two with her 12th of the year.  Jacqueline Perez rounded out the scoring with a third-period marker.

            PSU junior goaltender Ali Ponte (Richmond Hill, Ont.) recorded 41 saves. Sophomore Loren Carrier made 10 saves to improve to 10-1-2 and post her fourth shutout of the season.

            Plymouth State returns home for its final two home games of the season, hosting New England College Friday night and Castleton State College Saturday afternoon.  Norwich plays again Wednesday with a non-conference game at Amherst.
