Lynch scores lone goal for Panthers 

            MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Senior Cara Jankowski (Elkins, N.H.) scored two goals Saturday afternoon to lead Wesleyan University to a 4-1 victory over Plymouth State University in non-conference women's ice hockey action.

            The Cardinals took a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals just 11 seconds apart midway through the opening frame.  Jankowski added both her goals in the second period to push the lead to 4-0. Junior Kelsey Lynch (Collegeville, Pa.) put PSU on the board with a power play goal two minutes into the third period to account for the final score.

            Wesleyan won its second straight and third in its last four outings to even its record  at 4-4-0 overall, while PSU fell to 1-10-1 overall.

            Freshman Alex Horton (Great Neck, N.Y.) opened the scoring 12 minutes into the second period with her first goal of the season for Wesleyan.  Junior Jenny Robinson (Carlisle, Mass.) needed just 12 seconds to add her first of the year as well, giving the Cardinals a 2-0 lead after one period.

            Jankowski tallied her fifth of the season at the 7:50 mark of the second period, and added her sixth at 12:40. Lynch connected on her first goal of the year at 2:18 of the third period, with an assist from junior Kelsey Cosby (Walpole, Mass.)

            Junior Laura Corcoran (Oakville, Ont.) posted the win in the Wesleyan goal, making 11 saves on 12 shots. PSU junior Alyssa Altschuler (Cheshire, Conn.) totaled 21 saves for PSU.

            PSU is back in action next weekend at the Saint Michael's College Tournament, facing SUNY Oswego on Friday (Jan. 9) and Hamilton College on Saturday (Jan. 10).  Wesleyan plays a NESCAC twin bill next weekend at Middlebury.
