PSU Women’s Ice Hockey freshman earns weekly recognition

Lindqvist named NEHC Co-Rookie of the Week

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A freshman on the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team was honored Monday with weekly recognition from the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC).

Freshman Emelie Lindqvist (Gulleråsen, Sweden) was named NEHC Co-Rookie of the Week after her efforts in a pair of PSU games last week. She helped the Panthers to a 1-1 record for the week, and shares this week's honor with University of Southern Maine freshman goalie Britney Evangelista.

A 5'3" rookie goaltender, Lindqvist posted a 1-1 record with a 2.75 goals against average and a .914 save percentage in two games. She made 27 saves Friday evening to earn the victory in a 3-2 overtime win over the University of New England, and she came off the bench to make 26 saves on 29 shots in 46 minutes of relief in Saturday's 4-1 loss at perennial powerhouse Norwich University.

Lindqvist ranks fourth in the NEHC with a .938 save percentage on the season, and ranks eighth with a 2.10 goals against average. Both marks are also tops among NEHC rookies, and rank 21st nationally in save percentage and 28th in GAA.

Plymouth State, 2-4-0 overall and 2-2-0 in NEHC games, plays a pair of conference games this week, traveling to Holy Cross on Friday for a 7:05 p.m. game and hosting New England College Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
