Lundqvist named Goalie of the Week, Branovan earns Honor Roll nod

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two members of the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team were honored Monday with weekly recognition from the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC).

Freshman Emelie Lindqvist (Gulleråsen, Sweden) was selected as the NEHC Goaltender of the Week, and junior Haley Branovan (Canandaigua, N.Y.) was named to the NEHC Weekly Honor Roll. They led the Panthers to a four-point weekend with key victories over the University of Southern Maine, 3-1, and Castleton University, 3-2.

PSU was tied with Southern Maine for the final NEHC playoff spot heading into the weekend, and Castleton is ranked in the top 10 nationally.

Lindqvist ranks second among NEHC freshman goaltenders and 11th overall with a 2.33 goals against average. She also ranks 11th overall and fourth among freshmen with a .922 save percentage.

A 5'4" defenseman, Branovan anchored a PSU defense that allowed just three goals in the two games, while also contributing a goal and an assist. She assisted on the insurance goal in the win over Southern Maine, and her goal against Castleton tied the game 2-2 late in the second period before PSU went on to win, 3-2.

Branovan is second on the team in scoring with 10 points on one goal and nine assists. She also ranks tied for 13th in the NEHC in defenseman scoring.

Plymouth State, 8-13-0 overall and 4-9-0 in NEHC games, plays its final two home games of the season this week at Hanaway Rink – Tuesday against Salve Regina University and Friday vs. Franklin Pierce University – both at 6:00 p.m.
