PSU Women’s Ice Hockey freshman recognized by NEHC

Nagel named Rookie of the Week after big game vs. Post

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One of the top freshmen on the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team was honored Monday with weekly recognition from the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) after her performance in PSU's semester-ending victory over Post University.

            Freshman Julie Nagel (Canton, Mass./Walpole Express) was named the NEHC Rookie of the Week. Nagel helped the Panthers to an 11-0 non-conference win over Post, helping the team set a new program record for goals in a game.

            A 5'8" forward, Nagel collected four points in the win on three goals and an assist. She scored PSU's first two goals of the second period, pushing the lead to 5-0, and rounded out her hat trick with a third-period marker. She also assisted on PSU's second goal in the first-period. Nagel is ranked fifth on the team in scoring with four goals and two assists.

            Plymouth State completed the semester with a 4-6-1 overall record, and a 2-4 NEHC mark. After a break for final exams and the holidays, the Panthers will return to action on Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, in the annual DoubleTree Classic at Saint Michael's College; PSU meets host Saint Michael's in the 7 o'clock game.
