PSU Women’s Ice Hockey reveals 2018-19 slate

Panthers looking to build on last year's success

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Fresh off the most successful season in program history, the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team has its sights set on another strong season as third-year head coach Mykul Haun revealed the 2018-19 schedule.

            The Panthers earned the program's first home playoff game in 2017-18, a thrilling, 3-2 overtime victory over the University of New England, and the team is expecting even bigger things this winter.

            PSU will play a 25-game schedule, including 15 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) contests. The NEHC welcomes Johnson & Wales, Salem State and Suffolk to the league for 2018-19, while UNE and Salve Regina departed for the Colonial Hockey Conference.

            Plymouth State kicks off the season with a pair of home games against NCAA Division I teams. The Panthers host Franklin Pierce on Oct. 26 (6:00 p.m.), then face St. Anselm on Oct. 27 (3:00 p.m.).

            PSU then jumps into a stretch of nine-straight NEHC games. The Panthers travel to UMass Boston on Nov. 2 (4:00 p.m.), then host defending national champion Norwich (Nov. 3, 2:00 p.m.). The following weekend the Panthers welcome Castleton (Nov. 9, 6:00 p.m.) and New England College (Nov. 10, 2:00 p.m.) to Hanaway Rink. PSU's Salute the Troops game will take place against NEC. The Panthers close out November with games at Southern Maine (Nov. 16, 4:00 p.m.) and Suffolk (Nov. 30, 5:00 p.m.).

            Plymouth State hosts Salem State on Dec. 1 (2:00 p.m.), travels to Johnson & Wales on Dec. 7 (3:55 p.m.), then wraps up the fall semester at home against Southern Maine on Dec. 8 (2:00 p.m.).

            The Panthers welcome UNE back to Hanaway Rink for a pair of non-conference games on Jan. 4 (6:00 p.m.) and Jan. 5 (2:00 p.m.), then host Trinity on Jan. 8 (6:00 p.m.), before a string of four straight road games.

            PSU travels to Norwich on Jan. 12 (3:00 p.m.), plays twice at Oswego State (Jan. 16, 7:00 p.m. and Jan. 17, 3:00 p.m.), before wrapping up the trip at Trinity on Jan. 23 (7:30 p.m.). Plymouth State hosts Johnson & Wales on Jan. 25 (6:00 p.m.), travels to Castleton on Jan. 26, then closes the month at home against Amherst on Jan. 30 (6:00 p.m.).

            Plymouth will make the short trip to New England College on Feb. 1 (4:00 p.m.), before hosting UMass Boston On Feb. 2 (3:00 p.m.). PSU closes out the regular season the following weekend with a game at Salem State (Feb. 8, 7:00 p.m.) before a Senior Day contest against Suffolk on Feb. 9 (2:00 p.m.).

            At the conclusion of the regular season, the top six teams will advance to the NEHC tournament, with the top two seeds receiving byes to the semifinal round. First round games are set for Feb. 16, with semifinals on Feb. 23 and the championship game slated for Mar. 2.
