Fagan selected to Weekly Honor Roll for Panthers

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The top goal-scorer for the Plymouth State University women's ice hockey team was honored by the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) when the league released its weekly award winners on Monday.

Junior Alexis Fagan (Burrillville, R.I.) was selected to the Weekly Honor Roll after extending her recent scoring streak to become the program's all-time leading goal-scorer.

After being held off the scoreboard in a 2-0 loss at Southern Maine on Tuesday, the 5-6 forward scored twice in a 3-3 tie at Salem State on Friday night. She added her fifth goal in the last five games in Saturday afternoon's 3-2 win over Suffolk.

With her three goals last week, Fagan surpassed senior Brooke Maggy (Los Angeles, Calif.) and former Panther Kelsey Lynch to become the program's leader in career goals scored with 22. She is currently tops on the team with eight goals on the season, and ranks third with 11 points.

The Panthers (7-14-4, 5-7-4 NEHC) head into NEHC Tournament play this weekend. As the sixth seed, PSU will travel to third-seeded Castleton University for a quarterfinal game Saturday (Feb. 16) at 3:00 p.m. Both games against the Spartans this year went into overtime, with Castleton earning a 3-2 win at home on Jan. 26, and the teams skating to a 3-3 tie at Hanaway Rink on Nov. 9. The winner will advance to the semifinal round a week from Saturday (Feb. 23) at the site of the higher seed.
