Ashley Kilstein is in her fifth season as PSU’s women’s ice hockey coach in 2015-16.  Kilstein has made a positive impact on the Panthers in her first four seasons, improving the confidence and attitude of PSU’s growing program.  The hopes are high for the Panthers’ continued improvement under Kilstein in 2015-16.

Kilstein led the team to its first ECAC Tournament berth in the history of program in 2013, and was voted ECAC East Coach of the Year.  The Panthers had their best conference finish to date in 2014 and senior goalie Ali Ponte became the first PSU player to earn ECAC East All-Star honors.

A 2008 graduate of Union College (N.Y.), Kilstein spent the 2010-11 season as assistant coach at Williams College before coming to PSU in 2011.

Kilstein is a former four-year ice hockey letterwinner at Union, where she played in 113 games, led the team in points in 2004-05 and was named Unsung Hero in 2007-08. She was also active in Union Athletics as the school’s representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and the Student Advancement Committee.  Kilstein has been active in coaching since 2005 at Rinksport, a specialty camp in Rhode Island for female hockey players.

Kilstein made such an impact at Union that she was named the recipient of a newly created award for dedication to the community and being an outstanding citizen.  The award is given annually and is now named the Ashley Kilstein Award.
