PSC Women's Lacrosse defeats MIT in season opener
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Sophomores Robin Hartman (Santa Maria, Cal.) and Megan Wolfley (Maplewood, NJ) scored two goals apiece Wednesday afternoon, lifting the Plymouth State College women's lacrosse team to an 8-5 victory over Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the season opener for both schools.
PSC also got single goals from seniors Amanda Beedy (New Hampton, NH) and Jess Shapiro (Windsor Locks, Conn.) and sophomores Brooke Smith (Columbia, SC) and Sacha Jackson (Sangerville, ME) to register the triumph.
Junior goalie Lisa Goldberg (Newton, Mass.) recorded 15 saves to pick up the victory.
The game, which was played outdoors on turf, was PSC's first action this year outside the confines of the indoor field house at Plymouth State. The Panthers defeated MIT last season, 12-10.
The Panthers, 1-0, will play their next game in Florida next week during the school's spring break. PSC will meet Wellesley College next Tuesday (Mar. 21). The next game in New England is slated for Mar. 28 at Babson.
