PSC Women's Lax falls to Wellesley in Fla.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Wellesley College outscored Plymouth State College 11-2 in the second half Tuesday and went on to defeat the Panthers in non-conference women's lacrosse action, 16-4.
The Panthers actually took a 1-0 lead less than a minute into the contest, and trailed only 5-2 at the break. But Wellesley, 1-0, was too much for PSC, getting six goals from Grace Tsan and five from Jane Griffin.
PSC, 1-1, was led by freshman Heather Adey (Nashua, NH), who came off the bench in her collegiate debut to score three of the Panthers' four goals. Senior Faith Wahlen (Hampstead, NH) and sophomore Robin Hartman (Santa Maria, Cal.) each registered assists, and junior Courtney O'Sullivan (East Kingston, NH), who scored PSC's goal 35 seconds into the game, led the Panthers with six draw controls and seven ground balls.
The Panthers were outshot in the contest, 37-20. PSC junior Lisa Goldberg (Newton, Mass.) made 23 saves, and Wellesley's Stephanie Lueckel made 12 saves.
Kate Armenta added three goals for Wellesley, and Lauren Whittemore and Molly Evans chipped in with one apiece.
PSC will play a couple of scrimmages in Florida before returning to New England. The next official game for the Panthers is slated for Tuesday, Mar. 28, at Babson (4 p.m.)
