PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State College lacrosse players have been honored for their performances in a pair of Panther games last week.
Senior attackman J.P. Sallese (Beverly, Mass.) of the PSC men's team was named Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week, and junior midfielder Sacha Jackson (Sangerville, Maine) received New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance Honorable Mention. Both players were instrumental in their teams enjoying a 2-0 week.
Sallese chalked up a 17-point week in PSC's conference victories over Salem State (15-6) and Keene State (15-3). He scored two goals and added six assists in the Salem State win, and contributed a pair of goals and a season-high seven assists in the Keene State triumph. Sallese leads the Panthers in scoring with 23 points (five goals and 18 assists), and he ranks fifth in the LEC in points and first in assists.
Sallese has helped the Panthers to second place in the LEC with a 2-0 mark, behind league-leading Eastern Connecticut (3-0). PSC enters this week at 2-2 overall.
Jackson anchored a Panther defense that surrendered only seven goals in its two victories, a 19-0 verdict over Lasell and a 17-7 decision over Bridgewater State. The PSC defense, led by Jackson, did not allow a shot on goal by Lasell and gave up only 12 shots to Bridgewater State. PSC's defense is allowing only 7.80 goals per game.
Jackson has led the Panthers to four straight wins and a 4-1 overall record. PSC is 1-0 in NEWLA Northern Division games, sharing first place with Keene State (1-0).
