Pitt leads PSC past Colby-Sawyer
KEENE, N.H. - Senior Chrystn Pitt (Freeport, Maine) scored a career-high five goals and added an assist Monday evening, leading the Plymouth State College women's lacrosse team to a 16-4 non-conference victory over Colby-Sawyer College in a game played at Keene State College.
After the Chargers tallied the first goal of the game, PSC (6-2) rattled off the next seven markers to take the lead for good. It was 10-3 at halftime, and Pitt contributed three second-half goals to help put the game away for the Panthers.
Senior Courtney O'Sullivan (East Kingston, N.H.) chipped in with a season-high three scores, and freshman Katie Sheridan (West Sayville, N.Y.) added a pair. Junior Robin Hartman (Santa Maria, Cal.) and sophomore Heather Adey (Nashua, N.H.) registered a goal and an assist apiece, and senior Ali Hoffman (Hancock, N.H.) had a goal and an assist.
Also getting into the scoring act for PSC with one tally apiece were senior Kelly Curran (Forestdale, Mass.), junior Brooke Smith (Columbia, S.C.) and sophomore Jill Matteson (Chatham, Mass.).
Senior Abby Lefebvre led the Chargers with two goals, while sophomores Meredith Buzzi and Jessie Wilfert added one each.
Freshman Carmen Villanueva (East Schodack, N.Y.) made six saves in the Panther cage, while senior Brooke Morin and freshman Julie Jarmusik combined for 23 saves for Colby-Sawyer.
After playing every game so far on the road or at a neutral site, PSC may finally play a home game this Thursday (Apr. 19) at Arold Field against New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance opponent Castleton State (4 p.m.), weather and field conditions permitting. Tuesday's home game (Apr. 17) against Bowdoin was postponed.
