MANSFIELD, Conn. - The trio of junior Robin Hartman (Santa Maria, Cal.), sophomore Heather Adey (Nashua, N.H.) and freshman Katie Sheridan (West Sayville, N.Y.) combined for 11 goals and eight assists Sunday as Plymouth State College defeated Eastern Connecticut State University in a New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance non-divisional game.
Adey scored a career-high five goals, Sheridan matched her season-best with four goals and two assists, and Hartman added a pair of goals and a career-high six assists as the Panthers cruised to the victory. PSC led 12-2 at halftime and was never threatened in the second half.
PSC is back on the winning track, improving to 8-3 on the season, while ECSU drops to 9-5. The Panthers and Warriors are both members of NEWLA, but PSC is in the Northern Division and ECSU is in the Southern.
Senior Ali Hoffman (Hancock, N.H.) also contributed two goals and an assist to the Panther effort. Juniors Sacha Jackson (Sangerville, Maine) and Brooke Smith (Columbia, S.C.) and seniors Chrystn Pitt (Freeport, Maine) and Courtney O'Sullivan (East Kingston, N.H.) chipped in with a goal apiece, with Pitt and O'Sullivan also picking up assists.
Senior Stephanie Altman led the Warriors with three goals, while senior Callie McRitchie added two and sophomore Lauren Davern one.
PSC had a 30-17 advantage in shots on goal. PSC freshman Carmen Villanueva (East Schodack, N.Y.) made 10 saves, while freshman Erika Blozie and junior Erin DuCotey combined for eight saves for Eastern.
The Panthers wrap up the regular season this week with a pair of NEWLA divisional home games at Arold Field - Wednesday (Apr. 24) against Salem State (3:30 p.m.) and Thursday (Apr. 25) vs. Southern Maine (4:00 p.m.).
