PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of the Plymouth State College women's lacrosse team have been recognized by their conference after leading the Panthers to a 3-1 record last week.
Freshman Katie Sheridan (West Sayville, N.Y.) was selected New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, while sophomore Heather Adey (Nashua, N.H.) received NEWLA Honorable Mention, her first such recognition this season.
Sheridan and Adey were the scoring leaders as PSC captured victories over Colby-Sawyer (16-4), Castleton State (22-1) and Eastern Connecticut (17-6). The only blemish on PSC's slate last week was an 8-7 setback Saturday at Wheaton College.
A freshman midfielder, Sheridan recorded 12 goals and three assists in the four contests. She pumped in four goals against both Wheaton and Eastern Connecticut, and two each against Colby-Sawyer and Castleton State. The rookie offensive standout leads PSC with 32 goals, and ranks 10th in the 13-team NEWLA with 2.91 goals per game.
A sophomore attacker, Adey connected on a career-high five goals in the ECSU triumph. She finished the week with 11 goals and three assists, scoring three times against Castleton, twice against Wheaton, and once against CSC. Adey is third on the team in scoring with 21 goals and eight assists.
The Panthers, 8-3 overall, are the only unbeaten team (3-0) in NEWLA's Northern Division. Keene State and Southern Maine are tied for second at 3-1. PSC wraps up the regular season with a pair of NEWLA home games at Arold Field - Wednesday (Apr. 25) against Salem State (3:30 p.m.) and Thursday (Apr. 26) vs. Southern Maine (4:00 p.m.).
PSC is the defending NEWLA champion, and has won 20 consecutive NEWLA regular season games dating back to 1997.
