PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State College women's lacrosse players have been recognized by the Little East Conference for their efforts in PSC's opening week of the season.
Panther sophomore Katie Sheridan (West Sayville, N.Y.) was selected LEC Offensive Player of the Week and freshman Melissa Gravilla (Andover, N.H.) was named LEC Rookie of the Week. They are the first two LEC honorees as the conference is sponsoring women's lacrosse for the first time this spring.
A sophomore midfielder, Sheridan led the Panthers in scoring in PSC's two games. She scored two goals in the PSC's season-opening 12-5 setback to Trinity College, and added a career-high eight points (five goals and three assists) in the Panthers' 16-9 triumph over Dickinson. Sheridan, who led PSC with 40 goals last year, is atop the LEC statistics leaders with seven goals and 10 points.
A freshman goalie, Gravilla made her collegiate debut in the Panther net on the trip. She posted an 11.00 goals against average and a .571 saves percentage, second-best in the conference. Gravilla made 16 saves against Trinity and added 12 saves in the win over Dickinson.
Plymouth State, 1-1, gets right back into action with non-conference road games Tuesday (Mar. 26) at Babson (5:00 p.m.) and Thursday (Mar. 28) at Springfield (7:00 p.m.)
