Jackson receives LEC honor

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - One of the top defenders on the Plymouth State College women's lacrosse team received a top weekly honor from the Little East Conference Monday for her efforts in PSC's three victories last week.

Panther senior Sacha Jackson (Sangerville, Maine) was selected LEC Defensive Player of the Week. She helped PSC to consecutive wins over Wheaton, Western Connecticut and Bridgewater State as the Panthers increased their winning streak to five games.

A defensive midfielder, Jackson helped limit PSC's opponents to a combined 13 goals in the three games. She was the key defender against Wheaton's leading scorer, who came into the game with 32 goals, and kept her off the scoreboard. Jackson finished the week with 10 ground balls, including seven against Wheaton.

Plymouth State, 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the LEC in the first year of conference play, has two more LEC games this week - Tuesday at home against Southern Maine (4:00 p.m.) and Saturday at Eastern Connecticut (2:00 p.m.). The Panthers also have a make-up game Friday at Babson (6:00 p.m.).
