DANBURY, Conn. - Junior Nicole Evans (Scituate, Mass.) registered two goals and five assists Sunday afternoon to lead the Plymouth State University women's lacrosse team to an easy 12-2 victory over Western Connecticut State University in the Little East Conference opener for both schools at the Westside Athletic Complex.

Plymouth State, the three-time defending LEC champions, led 7-0 at halftime and 9-0 before the Colonials got on the board.  PSU coasted to victory in the second half, improving to 24-0 against Little East opponents since the conference started women's lacrosse in 2002.  PSU is 2-1 this season, while WestConn drops to 0-5.

Junior Bethany Brown (Norwich, Conn.) contributed three goals to the Panther win, while sophomores Kelsey MacDonald (Oak Bluffs, Mass.) and Amanda Spadafora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) finished with two goals and one assist apiece.  Freshman Jackie Connerty (Nashua, N.H.) recorded a goal and an assist, and sophomores Liz Boddy (Brentwood, N.H.) and Annie Pinault (Framingham, Mass.) chipped in with one goal each.

Spadafora led the Panthers with 10 ground balls, while Brown picked up eight and Evans six.

Freshman Jillian Brown (Kings Park, N.Y.) put the Colonials on the board with her seventh goal of the season five minutes into the second half.  Freshman Caitlin Everin (Glastonbury, Conn.) also scored for WestConn.

Junior goalie Melissa Perry (Danbury, Conn.) made 14 saves for the Colonials while senior Kristin Elliott (Exeter, N.H.) earned the win for PSU with eight saves before giving way to sophomore Suzie Lilakos (Stratham, N.H.)

PSU's next game, Wednesday (Apr. 6) at Southern Maine, has already been postponed due to wet field conditions, and rescheduled for Sunday, Apr. 24.  PSU hopes to play its home opener next Saturday, Apr. 9, against Eastern Connecticut at 1:00 p.m. at Arold Field.

The Colonials travel to Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday to play against the Warriors at 7 p.m.
