Plymouth State too much for Keene State in womens lax
KEENE, N.H. - The Plymouth State University women's lacrosse team remained undefeated in the Little East Conference Thursday afternoon with a 13-5 victory over rival Keene State College at Owl Athletic Complex.
PSU improves to 4-2 overall and takes over sole possession of first place in the LEC with a 3-0 mark. KSC saw its three-game winning streak come to an end, dropping to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Keene State has yet to beat PSU in nine meetings between the two teams.
Junior Nicole Evans (Scituate, Mass.) and sophomore Kelsey McDonald (Oak Bluffs, Mass.), led a balanced Panther offense with two goals and two assists each. Juniors Bethany Brown (Norwich, Conn.) and Caitlyn Irving (Avon, Conn.) and sophomores Annie Pinault (Framingham, Mass.) and Amanda Spadafora (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) also netted a pair of goals for the Panthers, and sophomore Liz Boddy (Brentwood, N.H.) chipped in with one goal.
MacDonald also led the Panthers with seven ground balls and six draw controls.
Senior Michelle Mason (Fairport, N.Y.) led KSC with two goals. Juniors Lauren Saunders (Fremont, N.H.) and junior Kristal Lundegaard (Babylon, N.Y.) and sophomore Stephanie Georgevits (Concord, N.H.) added single goals for the Owls.
After Georgevits opened the game with a goal, PSC scored the next six goals to pull away from the Owls. The Panthers led 8-2 at halftime.
PSU sophomore Suzie Lilakos (Stratham, N.H.) and senior Kristen Elliott (Exeter, N.H.) both saw time in goal for PSU, Lilakos making six saves and Elliott seven. Junior goalie Mandy Gray (Sharon, Mass.) made eight saves for KSC.
The Panthers return home to host Rhode Island College in an LEC match-up Saturday at Arold Field. The game has been moved from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. KSC is also back in action Saturday, visiting Western Connecticut (12:00 p.m.)
