PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The leading freshman
scorer on the Plymouth State University women's lacrosse team was
recognized by the Little East Conference on Monday with one of the
top weekly honors as the team heads into post-season play.
Freshman Brianna Davis (Framingham, Mass./Framingham) was named LEC Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week Monday for the second week in a row. She helped the Panthers to a 1-1 week to wrap up the regular season with wins in four of their last five outings.
A 5'3" midfielder, Davis (right) recorded 12 points on 10
goals and two assists in two games last week. She scored four
goals in Tuesday's 15-12 loss to rival Keene State, and added a
season-high six goals and two assists in Thursday's 17-13
non-conference victory over Colby-Sawyer. Davis also
collected three ground balls and four draw controls while causing
two turnovers.
Davis continues to enjoy a strong rookie season and ranks second on the team in both goals (34) and points (40). She also ranks sixth in the LEC in goals per game and 10th in points per game.
The Panthers, 4-2 in the LEC and 5-8 overall, are the third seed in this week's LEC Tournament and will host sixth-seeded Western Connecticut State University on Tuesday at Arold Field (3:30 p.m.) in a first-round match-up.
