WATERVILLE, Maine – Freshman Mekenna Bay (Maracaibo, Venezuela) scored eight goals and assisted on another Sunday afternoon as Plymouth State University cruised past Thomas College, 21-3, in non-conference women’s lacrosse action at Colby College’s Bill Alfond Field.
Bay tallied her first two goals of the game early in the first half to help PSU to a 4-0 lead. After Thomas broke the shutout with 16 minutes left in the first half, the Panthers rattled off six unanswered goals in a seven-minute stretch, including three by Bay and two by sophomore Caitlin Swanson (Holderness, N.H.), to open up a 10-1 lead. Bay added three more in the final eight minutes of the first half to give the Panthers a 16-2 advantage at halftime, with Bay scoring half of the Panther goals.
PSU outscored the Terriers 5-0 in the second half and coasted to the victory. The Panthers improve to 6-2 overall, while Thomas drops to 2-5.
Joining Bay in the PSU scoring parade were Swanson and junior Jenn Foley (Tewksbury, Mass.) with three goals apiece, and senior Kathryn Rogers (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and sophomore Marie Lander (Ossipee, N.H.) with two each. Rogers also collected eight draw controls as PSU won 20 of the 26 draws in the game.

Junior Ally Baribault (Middle Haddam, Conn.) and freshman Steph Paynter (Danbury, Conn.) split time in the Panther goal in the second half.
After eight road games to open the season, the Panthers will play five of their remaining six at home on Arold Field, beginning Thursday with a non-conference clash against Bridgewater State. Thomas will also be in action Thursday with a visit to Husson.
