PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two Plymouth State University lacrosse players were honored Monday when the Little East Conference announced its list of weekly honors.

PSU junior Lorin Field (Hollis, N.H./Hollis-Brookline) was named LEC Women's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week, and senior Justin Vercruysse (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) was selected LEC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week. Field is recognized for the third time this season and sixth time in her career, while Vercruysse is a weekly honor recipient for the first time in his career.

A 5'5" goalie, Field posted a 1-0 record in two starts last week with an 8.93 goals against average.  She made four saves in 41 minutes of action Tuesday in a win over Keene State, and she stopped 12 shots in PSU's 14-7 win Saturday over Western Connecticut, holding the Colonials to six goals below their season average (13.65).

The returning LEC Defensive Player of the Year, Field leads the conference this spring with an 8.11 goals against average and a .538 save percentage.

The Panther women, 9-2 overall and riding a five-game winning streak, play a pivotal conference game this Wednesday on Senior Day at Arold Field against the University of Southern Maine. PSU and USM are tied atop the LEC standings, both with 4-0 league records.

A 5'11", 190-pound defender, Vercruysse helped anchor a PSU defense that allowed just 8.5 goals per game in a pair of conference road wins.  He was outstanding on clears, and he recorded three caused turnovers in PSU's 10-7 win over Southern Maine on Wednesday.  Vercruysse also collected six ground balls for the week, three against USM and three in PSU's 17-10 win Saturday over Western Conn.

A three-year veteran and two-year starter, Vercruysse helps lead a Panther defense that leads the LEC in team goals against average (7.30).  PSU is also 33rd in scoring defense in the NCAA Division III rankings out of 203 schools.

The PSU men's lax squad (8-2 overall, 4-1 LEC) wraps up the regular season this week with a pair of conference road games -- Wednesday at league-leading Keene State College and Saturday at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. The Panthers are tied for second place with Eastern Connecticut, a game behind Keene State.
