Field, Gleason earn weekly recognition for Panthers

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two standouts on the Plymouth State University women's lacrosse team were recognized Monday with weekly recognition from the Little East Conference (LEC) following their performances in a pair of Panther victories last week.

PSU senior Lorin Field (Hollis, N.H./Hollis-Brookline) was named LEC Women's Lacrosse Goalie of the Week, and junior Molly Gleason (Haverhill, Mass.) was selected LEC Defensive Player of the Week. Field and Gleason are no strangers to LEC weekly honors, as Field was named LEC Goalie of the Week honor for the 10th time in her four years while Gleason has earned the top defensive weekly honor six times in her career.

Field posted a 2-0 record in goal last week with a 5.59 goals against average and a .591 save percentage.  She made 10 saves in a 9-7 non-conference road win over Babson, and she made three stops in 36 minutes in a lop-sided victory over UMass Dartmouth Saturday in PSU's LEC opener.

Gleason helped the Panthers to the perfect week by collecting 10 draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers. She recorded six draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover Saturday as PSU defeated UMass Dartmouth. Gleason grabbed four draw controls in the victory over Babson and also contributed to the offense, scoring a pair of goals in each game.

The two Panthers are among the LEC and NCAA statistical leaders again this season. Gleason leads the LEC and ranks 17th nationally with 6.14 draw controls per game, and Field tops the conference in save percentage (.529) and goals against average (8.12), ranking 20th nationally in save percentage and 38th in GAA.

The Panthers, 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the LEC, play two key games this week, hosting Bridgewater State University Wednesday in a non-conference affair at 6:30 p.m. at The New Hampton School (N.H.) , and visiting Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday for a Little East match-up (12 noon).
