PSU Women’s Lacrosse player earns LEC honors

Zuccaro tabbed Defensive Player of the Week for third time

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – For the third time this season, Plymouth State University senior Kimberly Zuccaro (Townsend, Mass.) has earned Little East Conference (LEC) recognition the league announced when it released its weekly women's lacrosse award winners on Monday.

            Zuccaro was selected the LEC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Panthers to a 2-1 week while making an impact all over the field for the Panthers.

            She opened the week with a game-high five ground balls and added two draw controls, one caused turnover and a goal as PSU raced out to a 9-1 lead against Bridgewater State University on Tuesday, before settling for a 9-5 win.

            In Saturday's 20-1 LEC win over Rhode Island College she posted game-highs of six ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers to go along with two goals and three assists.

            She closed the week with two ground balls, a goal, draw control and caused turnover in a setback at #14 Bowdoin College on Sunday.

            The 5-2 midfielder currently ranks sixth in the conference in ground balls (28) and caused turnovers (14) and eighth in draw controls (28). Also a contributor on the offensive end, the two-way player is fourth on the team with ten goals and second with 15 points.

            Plymouth State (4-4, 2-0 LEC) plays a second straight nationally-ranked opponent when it visits #3 Middlebury College on Wednesday (Apr. 10), before returning to conference play on Saturday (Apr. 13) with a contest against the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth at the New Hampton School (11:30 a.m.).
