Zuccaro earns fourth Defensive Player of the Week nod

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – After a pair of outstanding individual performances, Plymouth State University senior Kimberly Zuccaro (Townsend, Mass.) has earned Little East Conference (LEC) weekly recognition for the fourth time this season.

Zuccaro was named the LEC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Panthers to a pair of conference wins.

Zuccaro had a monster game in a 10-7 win over the University of Southern Maine on Wednesday. In a battle for the top spot in the conference she posted a season-high nine ground balls and career-best eight caused turnovers, while also chipping in with three draw controls, two goals and an assist. With the game tied 6-6 midway through the second half, Zuccaro scored, then tallied an assist as part of a 4-0 spurt to put the game out of reach.

She followed with another complete game effort in Saturday's 19-3 win over Eastern Connecticut in a rematch of the last two LEC championship games. She finished the game with six ground balls and three caused turnovers while contributing four goals and an assist to the offense.

The 5-2 midfielder is currently third in the LEC in ground balls (47) and caused turnovers (28) and is ninth in draw controls with 38. She also ranks among the conference leaders in goals (20), assists (9) and points (29).

Plymouth State (7-5, 5-0 LEC) wraps up the regular season with a pair of road conference games this week. PSU heads to Keene State on Tuesday (Apr. 23) at 6:00 p.m., before visiting Castleton University on Saturday (Apr. 27) for a 1:00 p.m. contest. With a win in either game the Panthers will lock up a second straight regular season title.
