PSC Wrestling places fifth at RIT Invitational
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Six Plymouth State College wrestlers placed in their respective weight class Saturday, leading the team to a fifth place finish among eight teams at the annual R.I.T. Invitational.
The team title went to New England power Springfield College, which finished with 158.5 points. Ohio's John Carroll University was second with 149 points, followed by Ithaca (126.5), host RIT (112), PSC (66.5), Norwich (47.5), Oswego (42.5) and Mansfield (31).
For the second straight tournament, sophomore Brent Arbogast (Nashua, NH) led the way for PSC. He finished second in the tournament's 141 pound weight class, which comes on the heels of a first place finish at Springfield's tournament two weeks ago.
Two Panther wrestlers placed third at the RIT meet -- junior Ben Baker (Gardiner, ME) at 174 and senior Russ Pamulak (Indianola, IA) at 184 pounds. Two others placed fifth -- senior Ryan Carr (Salem, NH) at heavyweight and junior Shawn Kain (Lakeville, MA) at 165, and senior Todd Oljey (Byfield, MA) was sixth at 149.
The Panthers, guided by fourth-year head coach Dave Carlson, travel to Gorham, Maine, next Saturday (Dec. 12) where they will face Southern Maine, Roger Williams and Western New England (12:00 p.m.) in the last competition of the semester.
