GORHAM, Me. - Plymouth State College's wrestling team captured three dual matches Saturday afternoon in a quad-meet hosted by the University of Southern Maine.
The Panthers defeated Southern Maine in the first match, 33-16, followed by a 26-15 victory over Roger Williams. PSC wrapped up the day with a 26-18 victory over Western New England.
The competition completes the first half of the season for the Panthers, who now have a 4-0 record in dual matches. PSC takes a break for final exams and the holidays before returning to action on Jan. 9th at Oneonta State (NY).
Plymouth State swept the five heaviest weight classes, winning those bouts in all three duals. Senior Russ Pamulak (Indianola, IA) won all three matches to up his individual mark to 11-2, and senior heavyweight Ryan Carr (Salem, NH) went 3-0 to improve his seasonal record to 11-5. Junior Ben Baker (Gardiner, ME) also went 3-0 at 174 pounds and is now 11-5, while classmate Shawn Kain (Lakeville, MA) defeated his three opponents at 165 to improve to 6-4.
Sophomore Brent Arbogast (Nashua, NH) won two of his three bouts at 149 pounds, watching his record go to 11-4. Also picking up victories for the Panthers were freshman Dave Brown (North Andover, MA) at 133 pounds against Southern Maine, and senior Jim Freda (Windham, NH) at 133 and junior Nick Volpe (Holmdel, NJ) at 141 against Roger Williams.
