ONEONTA, N.Y. - Plymouth State College had seven individuals place in the top six of their respective weight class Saturday, helping the Panthers to a fourth place finish among 10 schools at the annual Oneonta State Wrestling Invitational.
The Panthers finished the tournament with 49 team points. Western Maryland was the team champion with 68 points, followed by Cortland (68), Scranton (58), PSC, NYU (48), Oneonta (42), Muhlenberg (40), Messiah (28), WPI (27) and Hunter (23).
The leading wrestler for Plymouth State was senior Marco Salce (Keene, N.H.), who captured the individual title at 184 pounds. Sophomore Nate Kittredge (Vergennes, Vt.) was a third place finisher for the Panthers at 197 pounds.
PSC also had two fourth, two fifth and one sixth-place wrestlers. Sophomore Lee Miller (Concord, N.H.) was fourth at 157 pounds, and sophomore Dana Carr (Salem, N.H.) placed fourth in the heavyweight bracket. Sophomore Jared Raymond (Danville, N.H.) captured fifth at 125 pounds, sophomore Griffin Banos (Edison, N.J.) was fifth at 149, and senior Todd Austin (Rumford, Maine) placed sixth at heavyweight.
The Panthers are now idle until Dec. 2nd, when they travel to Wisconsin for the UW-Parkside Open.
