Six Panthers ranked in New England

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Six Plymouth State College wrestlers were listed in the top six in their weight class Monday in the latest New England Division III individual rankings by the New England Intercollegiate Wrestling News.

The Panthers have moved up to the fourth spot in the team rankings, the highest of the season. PSC, 7-4 on the season, placed third at the New England Dual Meet Championships last Saturday.

PSC senior Marco Salce (Keene, N.H.) and freshman Dan Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) are both the top-ranked wrestler in their respective weight class. Salce is at the top of the 184-pound class with a 22-7 record, and Moskowitz shares the top spot at 165 pounds (with James Gilbert of Johnson & Wales) with a 21-8 mark.

Junior Shaun Cleary (West Keansburg, N.J.) has moved into the rankings at 141 pounds in the third spot. He leads the team with a 24-7 record. Sophomore Rich Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) has posted an 18-9 record and is ranked fourth at 157 pounds.

A pair of local products are ranked for PSC in the lightest and heaviest weight classes. Senior Nate Buffington (Plymouth, N.H.) is ranked sixth at 125 pounds with a 12-13 record, and sophomore Rick Simula (Plymouth, N.H.) is sixth at 285 pounds after posting an 18-8 mark.

Plymouth State, led by seventh-year head coach Dave Carlson, hosts the final home meet of the season this Wednesday (Jan. 23), facing WPI at Foley Gymnaisum (7:00 p.m.).
