GORHAM, Maine - Plymouth State College registered its first two wrestling dual meet wins of the season Saturday afternoon, defeating Roger Williams University and the University of Southern Maine in a tri-meet hosted by USM.
The Panthers edged Roger Williams in the first dual, 25-23, then came back with a 30-18 victory over Southern Maine. The outcome gives PSC a 2-2 dual meet record on the season, and gives PSC first-year head coach Don Perrin his first two wins as Panther coach.
Plymouth State got two victories apiece from senior Shaun Cleary (West Keansburg, N.J.) at 141 pounds, sophomore Dan Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.), one at 149 and one at 157, and junior Nate Kittredge (Vergennes, Vt.) at 184. Cleary improved his record to a team-best 18-2, while Moskowitz improved to 7-3 and Kittredge to 13-2.
Junior Rich Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) at 157 pounds and classmate Charlie Kenna (Concord, N.H.), at 133, posted wins for PSC in the Roger Williams win. Sophomore Jim Burnham (South Windsor, Conn.) at 165 pounds, freshman Brian Francis (Plymouth, N.H.) at 174, and junior Rick Simula (Plymouth, N.H.) also collected victories to help PSC defeat Southern Maine.
PSC is idle now for final exams and the holiday break. The Panthers are back in competition on Sunday, Jan. 12, at the Roger Williams Classic.
