Kittredge, Moskowitz lead PSU Wrestlers at Oneonta Tourney
ONEONTA, N.Y. - Two Plymouth State University wrestlers were place-winners Saturday as the Panthers opened the season with a ninth-place finish out of 10 teams at the annual Oneonta State Red Dragon Invitational Tournament.
Senior Nate Kittredge (Vergennes, Vt.) highlighted the day for the Panthers, winning an individual championship for the second straight year. The winner at 184 pounds last year, Kittredge wrestled at 174 Saturday and went 4-0 to win the title. Kittredge finished 25-4 last season and won the New England championship at 184.
Junior Dan Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) was also a place-winner for the Panthers, taking fourth at 149 pounds. The defending New England champion at 149, Moskowitz posted a 3-2 record Saturday to capture the fourth place. He finished with a 19-8 record last season and advanced to the NCAA Championship Tournament.
PSU junior Kyle Pietrowski (Eliot, Maine) split his four tournament matches at 197 pounds, and freshmen Matt Friend (Jefferson, N.H.), at 125, and Brandon Black (Keene, N.H.), at 157, each won one of their three matches in the collegiate debuts.
Oneonta won the tournament with 116 points, followed by WPI (109.5), Wilkes (107), NYU (81.5), Johns Hopkins (69), Hunter (62.5), Rit (50.5), Washington and Jefferson (47.5), Plymouth State (32) and Scranton (22).
The Panthers return to competition on Saturday, Dec. 6, at the RIT Invitational in Rochester, N.Y.
