PSU Wrestlers drop three matches in PennsylvaniaWILKES-BARRE, Pa.
- Plymouth State University faced some tough out of region competition Wednesday evening, and came up on the short end in three dual matches, hosted by King's College.
The Panthers were defeated in the first match by Wilkes University, 28-15, and then fell to Gettysburg College, 22-17. The evening ended for PSU with a 28-14 loss to King's. The Panthers drop to 2-9 this season, while Wilkes is now 4-3, Gettysburg is 1-4 and King's is 4-6.
Three Panthers finished with two wins and a loss -- senior Dan Moskowitz (Amherst, N.H.) at 157 pounds, senior Nate Kittredge (Vergennes, Vt.) at 184, and freshman Shaun Wilbert (Toms River, N.J.) at 285. Three others, freshman Ryan Schieding (Manchester, N.H./ Memorial) at 149, sophomore Brandon Black (Keene, N.H.) at 165, and senior Kyle Pietrowski (Eliot, Maine) at 197, collected one win apiece.
Schieding, Moskowitz and Wilbert were the only Panther winners in the opening match against Wilkes. Moskowitz, Black and Kittredge all won their bouts against Gettysburg and senior Dave Preciado (Stoneham, Mass.) received a forfeit victory at 133. PSU lost the first seven matches against King's, but rebounded when Kittredge, Pietrowski and Wilbert won the last three.
Kittredge, who is ranked third in New England at 184, improved his team-best record to 16-5, and Moskowitz, who is ranked fourth in New England at 157, upped his mark to 12-6. Schieding (12-10) and Wilbert (11-9) are the only other two Panthers to reach double figures in victories this season.
The Panthers return home to host the annual PSU Invitational this Sunday (Jan. 16) at Foley Gymnasium (10:00 a.m.)
