PSU Wrestlers fall to Norwich in opener

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Norwich University took seven of the 10 matches Wednesday evening and defeated Plymouth State University, 28-9, in the first wrestling dual match of the season at Andrews Hall.

Norwich is ranked fifth in New England in the early-season poll, while PSU is ranked 10th.

The Panthers got victories from junior Chris Greenwood (Manchester, N.H./West) at 125 pounds, freshman Donny Connolly (Plaistow, N.H./Timberlane) at 165, and freshman Josh St. Ours (Manchester, N.H./Memorial) at 197.

Cadet winners included senior Brian Zane (Franklinville, N.J.) in the 133 weight class, freshman Nick Monaco (Levittown, N.Y.) at 141, senior Jake Rivers (Beekmantown, N.Y.) at 149, junior Connor Keating (Waterbury, Vt.) at 157, senior Brian Cafelle (Canton, Mass.) at 174, junior Alexander Whitney (Amherst, N.H.) at 184, and senior Cody Lightfoot (Eliot, Maine) at 285.

The Cadets will be back in action on Saturday at the Springfield Invitational, while the Panthers will take part in the Oneonta State Invitational in New York.
