PSU Wrestling goes 1-1-1 in home quad meet
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Plymouth State University wrestling team hosted a quad meet on Saturday at Foley Gymnasium, and finished the day with a 1-1-1 record. The Panthers defeated Western New England College, 39-9, in the first match of the day, fell to the University of Southern Maine, 24-18, in the middle match, and finished off the afternoon with a 21-21 tie against Roger Williams University.
The win for PSU against WNEC marked the first career win for Panther first-year head coach Tommy Prairie. The Panthers are now 1-3-1 on the season, while Roger Williams is now 2-0-2, Southern Maine is 2-1-1, and Western New England is 1-4.
Sophomore Shawn Moseley (Hooksett, N.H./Concord H.S.) and senior Josh St. Ours (Manchester, N.H./Memorial) led the Panthers with three wins on the afternoon. Moseley won by forfeit over WNEC at 133 pounds but followed up with a pair of pins against USM and WNEC. St. Ours recorded a fall against WNEC and a decision against Southern Maine in the 285-pound weight class, then pinned his opponent in the final match against Roger Williams to help PSU pull out the tie. St. Ours leads the team with a 10-2 record on the season.
Freshman Kyle Moseley (Hooksett, N.H./Brooks School, Mass.) and senior Chris Greenwood (Manchester, N.H./West) each went 2-0 on the day for PSU. Moseley won both his bouts at 174 pounds, while Greenwood picked up a win by fall and a decision at 125 pounds. Senior Landon Nelson (Salem, N.Y.) won two of his three matches at 184 pounds.
PSU has completed competition for the semester, and will return to the mats on Jan. 5, 2008, at the North-South Duals at Ursinus, Pa.
