PLYMOUTH, N.H. - A senior on the Plymouth State University wrestling team was recognized by the New England Wrestling Association Monday for his efforts in three Panther matches last week.
Senior Josh St. Ours (Manchester, N.H./Memorial) was named New England Wrestler of the Week, the first Panther this season to earn the honor. St. Ours went unbeaten last week, helping the Panthers to a 1-1-1 record in the three meets.
Wrestling in the heavyweight division, St. Ours (right) went 3-0 in his three matches, including a pair of pins and a major decision. His pin in the final bout against Roger Williams gave the Panthers a 21-21 tie against the Hawks. St. Ours lead the Panthers with a 10-2 record, with seven of his 10 wins coming by fall.
St. Ours has also done well in the two tournaments in which the Panthers competed. He placed third at heavyweight at the Oneonta State (N.Y.) Tournament last month, and finished runner-up at the Ted Reese Invitational earlier this month, hosted by the University of Southern Maine.
PSU has completed competition for the semester, and will return to the mats on Jan. 5, 2008, at the North-South Duals at Ursinus, Pa.
