PSU Wrestling defeats Norwich and MIT
Panthers ranked fifth in New England
NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Plymouth State University wrestling team picked up a pair of dual match victories Saturday afternoon, defeating Norwich University, 38-10, and MIT, 39-15, at Norwich’s Andrews Hall.
Sophomore Seth Carter (Hudson, N.H./Alvirne) led the Panthers with a pair of wins by fall at 174 pounds. Freshman Mike Trask (Merrimack, N.H.) at 133 pounds and junior Dustin Rudy (Iselin, N.J.) at 165 pounds also recorded pins for the Panthers in the victories. The win over MIT will not count in the team’s record because MIT in not a varsity team.
PSU won eight of the 10 individual bouts in the win over Norwich. Junior Josh Huber (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet) joined Rudy and Carter with wins by fall, and four Panthers earned decisions -- sophomore Femi Wheeler (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) at 141, sophomore Travis Brooks (Beachwood, N.J.) at 157, junior Chris Rideout (Londonderry ,N.H.) at 184, and senior Eric Larcomb (Jefferson, N.H./White Mountain Regional) at 197.
Carter and Trask recorded pins in the victory over MIT, and Larcomb earned a decision for the Panthers. F PSU wrestlers were awarded wins by forfeit.
The Panthers, ranked fifth in the New England Division III poll, will compete this Sunday at the annual New England Dual Meet Championships, hosted by Bridgewater State University.
