PSU Wrestling Team drops two at WPI tri-match
Willey, Wheeler, Phillips win twice each for Panthers
WORCESTER, Mass. – The Plymouth State University wrestling team suffered a pair of losses Saturday afternoon at a tri-meet at WPI, falling to the University of Southern Maine, 40-9, and host WPI, 34-13.
Seniors Mike Willey and Rob Phillips and junior Femi Wheelerprovided the highlights for Plymouth State, each posting a pair of victories.

Willey, ranked #5 in New England at 149 pounds, went 2-0 on the day, including a 6-5 decision over Southern Maine's Peter Gilman, who is ranked #2 in New England. Phillips, who is ranked fifth at 184 pounds, won both of his bouts, including one by forfeit; and Wheeler, who is ranked #3 in New England at 157 pounds, won twice, including a decision over Southern Maine's Logan Russell, who is fifth-ranked.
Phillips leads the Panthers with a 23-7 record on the season, while Wheeler is now 15-4 and Willey is 14-3.
Plymouth State returns to competition next Saturday with a quad-meet at Wesleyan University that includes Williams College and Oneonta State.
