PSU Wrestling falls to Western New England in final dual

Aumann, Callahan, Froio, McLee post wins for Panthers

            SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Plymouth State University wrestling team wrapped up the dual match portion of the season Sunday with a 30-16 loss to Western New England University at WNE's Alumni Healthful Living Center.

            The home team took six of the 10 bouts to claim the win. WNE, which also defeated Daniel Webster in a dual on Sunday, is now 11-13 while PSU is 3-10.

            PSU got wins from freshman Joey Aumann (Hopatcong, N.J.) at 133 pounds, junior Clay Callahan (Milford, Conn.) at 165, and freshmen Matt Froio (Cohasset, Mass.) and Bruce McLee (Washingtonville, N.Y.) at 174 and 197, respectively.

            These four Panther wrestlers also have the best individual records on the team. Froio is 17-6 overall to lead the team in wins, while Aumann improved to 17-9, McLee is 12-5, and Callahan is 11-7.

            Plymouth State will compete in the NCAA Regional Championships on Saturday-Sunday, Feb. 27-28, hosted by Springfield College.
