PSU Wrestlers appear on first NEWA Individual Rankings

Aumann, da Silva among the best at their weight classes

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A pair of Plymouth State University wrestlers are among the top grapplers in their respective weight classes, as the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) released its preseason individual rankings Tuesday afternoon.

Junior Joe Aumann (Hopatcong, N.J.) holds the number four spot at 125 pounds, while sophomore Dylan da Silva (Bayville, N.J.) is seventh at 184 pounds.

Aumann, who last wrestled for the Panthers at the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships in the spring of 2017, returns to PSU after a year off. He finished the 2016-17 season with a 28-10 mark, including two pins, winning three straight bouts against some of New England's top competition to finish third at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships to secure his spot on the national stage.

Da Silva was arguably the Panthers' top wrestler last winter, posting an 11-2 mark with four pins before an injury cut his season short. He placed at two tournaments last year, taking fifth at the Doug Parker Invitational before capturing the individual tile at the Ted Reese Invitational.

The complete rankings can be found here.

Plymouth State opens the 2018-19 season under first year head coach Eric Bergeron on Monday, Nov. 12, in a dual meet with New England College at the Bank of New Hampshire Field House at ALLWell North. The first bout is set for 6:00 p.m.
