Abusheery posts lone win for Panthers

            SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Junior Steve Abusheery (North Attleboro, Mass.) posted the lone win for Plymouth State University as the Panthers dropped a wrestling dual meet to Western New England University, 37-3, at the Alumni Healthful Living Center on Saturday.

            Abusheery earned a 6-4 decision at 149 pounds to account for the Panthers' scoring.

            How it Happened:

            * Abusheery topped Andre Piedrahita at 149 pounds for Plymouth State's three points.

            * The Panthers dropped two weight classes by the narrowest of margins, as freshman Billy Dunn (Sudbury, Mass.) fell by a 7-5 margin in a first sudden victory period at 165 pounds.

            * Senior Matt Froio (Cohasset, Mass.) was nipped by Josh Nelson, 2-0, at 197 pounds.

            * Sophomore Dylan da Silva (Bayville, N.J.) lost an 8-2 decision in a match-up with two of the top wrestlers in New England at 184 pounds.

 

            Inside the Numbers:

            * Abusheery picked up his tenth career win.

            * da Silva, ranked fifth in New England at 184 pounds, fell to second-ranked John Boyle.

            * Western New England is ranked ninth in the latest New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) poll.

 

            Up Next:
