PSC Women's Soccer player named to LEC Honor Roll

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - A fullback for the Plymouth State College women's soccer team received Little East Conference Weekly Honor Roll accolades for her defensive efforts in two PSC games last week.

Sophomore Mary Young (Rockland, MA) earned honorable mention by helping the team allow only one goal in two games played last week. Young kept the opposition off rhythm in both games, frustrating the forwards and keeping them away from the net. Young and the Panthers tied Green Mountain 0-0 in overtime last Wednesday, allowing just eight shots on net. PSC also allowed just eight shots in the final home game Saturday against Eastern Connecticut, a 3-1 Panther victory. Young has started in all 17 games this season and has scored two goals from the backfield.

Plymouth State finished the regular season at 9-7-1 overall, and 5-2 in the LEC under first-year head coach Beth Field. The Panthers' post-season hopes were kept alive as they received an ECAC bid, and will be the No. 5 seed in the New England Tournament. PSC has received an invitation to the post-season for the past 16 years.

Plymouth State will kick off its post-season on Wednesday (Nov. 4) when it faces fourth-seeded Gordon College at 1:30 p.m. in Wenham, Mass. The winner advances to the semi-finals Saturday (Nov. 7) at the site of the highest remaining seed in the tournament.

Panther Notes: Junior Caitlin Cook (Cutchogue, NY) finishes the regular season with a team-high 23 points on 10 goals and three assists. Cook has scored in seven of the 17 games played this season, including a hat trick against Bridgwater State on Sept. 23rd.....Senior co-captain Alyssa Sadowski (Middleton, MA) has a 4-2-1 record when the Panthers start her in net. She has two shutouts on the season and has kept the opposition under a goal with a 0.83 goals against average.
