PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Little East Conference announced the 1999 Women's Soccer All-Star Team, and four Plymouth State players were chosen for their play this season.
Senior forward Tara Dickson (Sussex, NJ), senior defender Jackie Blanchard (Plymouth, MA), junior defender Mary Young (Rockland, MA), and freshman forward Jodi Theriault (Elliot, ME) were all selected to the LEC Second Team . It is the third LEC honor for Dickson and the second for Young.
Dickson, a senior co-captain, tallied nine goals and nine assists to lead the team in both categories. She finishes her college career with 24 goals and 19 assists that ranks her tied for sixth on PSC's all-time scoring list. The quick-thinking midfielder was selected to play in a senior all-star game to wrap-up her career. It is Dickson's third straight year on the All-LEC Second Team.
Blanchard and Young started every game this year for the Panther defense. They were instrumental in helping limit Panther opponents to 17 goals in 19 games and posting six shutouts. PSC allowed one or fewer goals fourteen times including eight of the last nine outings. Blanchard earned All-New England honors in 1997 and Young did the same in 1998.
Theriault, a freshman striker, found the back of the net eight times this season, ranking second on the team in scoring. She notched two goals in a game three times, all PSC victories. A lethal goal scorer, she was one of just three freshman to be selected to the All-Conference team.
PSC finished the season with an overall record of 12-6-1 under first-year head coach Rebecca Lisack, and an LEC mark of 4-2-1. The Panthers advanced to the first LEC Tournament, but were eliminated by Keene State, 1-0, costing PSC a 17th consecutive post-season berth.
