PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Senior Pam Neff (Thompson, Conn.) scored the game-winning goal with eight minutes remaining Saturday, leading Eastern Connecticut State University's women's soccer team to a 2-1 Little East Conference victory over Plymouth State College at Panther Field.
The win improves ECSU to 4-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in LEC play, while PSC drops to 5-3-0 and 1-1-0.
After a scoreless first half, ECSU junior Julia Neilson (Salisbury, Conn.) converted a corner kick from sophomore Shelly Torelli (Wallingford, Conn.) to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead 10 minutes into the second half. Plymouth State answered with 16 minutes remaining, as sophomore Sandra Petlick (New Castle, NH) weaved through the Warrior defense and connected on her sixth goal of the season to even the score at 1-1, setting up Neff's game-winning score.
Eastern had a 13-11 edge in shots for the game. PSC keeper Becky Kennedy (West Springfield, Mass.) made 11 saves, and ECSU goalie Samly Phonesavanh (Killingly, Conn.) made eight saves.
PSC returns to action Tuesday (Sept. 26) at Salem State (3:30 p.m.). Eastern Conn. plays Tuesday at Massachusetts College (4 p.m.)
