PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Plymouth State College came from behind in the second half Saturday and captured a 2-1 victory over Rhode Island College in Little East Conference women's soccer action.
The victory improves PSC's record to 7-6-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference, while RIC falls to 7-7 overall and 2-3 in the LEC.
After a scoreless first half, Kerri Ferreira put the Anchorwomen up 1-0 just 30 seconds in the second half. Junior Beth Dooly (Goffstown, NH) tied the game up for PSC, scoring her first of the season on a long-range chip shot in the 64th minute. Freshman Cathy Berei (Pennington, NJ) scored the game-winner for PSC five minutes later, her third of the year.
Junior keeper Becky Kennedy (West Springfield, Mass.) made six saves to preserve the win for the Panthers. Caitlin Schimmel made six saves in the loss for RIC.
The Panthers wrap up the regular season this week with three matches - Tuesday (Oct. 17) in the last regular season home game against Southern Maine (3:30 p.m.), Thursday (Oct. 19) at Westfield State (7 p.m.) and Saturday (Oct. 21) at UMass Dartmouth (1 p.m.)
