PSC blanked by Salem State

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Freshman Jody Graham (Billerica, Mass.) scored the only goal of the game with 20 minutes remaining in the second half Wednesday, leading Salem State College to a 1-0 victory over Plymouth State College in a non-conference women's soccer game at Panther Field.

With the outcome, both teams now sport a 4-4-0 overall record. Freshman Kelli Reardon (Kettering, Ohio) played a solid game in net for the Vikings, recording six saves to post her first career shutout.

The two teams played a scoreless first half. The best chance for either team came when PSC senior Carrie Poulin (Westfield, Mass.) clanged a shot off the crossbar widway through the half.

Graham tallied the game's only goal midway through the second half, taking a pass from junior Michele Caporale (Beverly, Mass.) and beating PSC senior keeper Becky Kennedy (W. Springfield, Mass.) with a shot into the lower left corner of the goal. Kennedy finished the game with four saves.

PSC finished with a 12-9 advantage in shots on goal, but was blanked on the scoreboard for the third time this season.

Plymouth State, which has played its last five games at home, travels to Willimantic, Conn., this Saturday (Sept. 29) for a key Little East Conference match-up against Eastern Connecticut (1:00 p.m.).
